Acquiring VSAT activity

According to the transaction closed as of last Thursday, the Antenna Hungária Group member, Hungaro DigiTel Kft. (HDT) acquired the VSAT activity of GTS-Datanet Távközlési Kft.

Pursuant to the contract between the companies, Hungaro DigiTel (HDT) – 55.4% stake in the company is owned by Antenna Hungária – acquired the satellite data transmission activity of GTS-Datanet Távközlési Kft. The transaction includes the purchase of assets and client contracts.

2009 is an important milestone in GTS Datanet’s history: we are to transform the company from a Hungarian firm with a wide portfolio of telecom services to an integrated part of regional group offering business telecom services across the whole Central European region” – said Pál Pauer, CEO of GTS-Datanet. „Our parent company GTS Central Europe doesn’t provide VSAT services in other countries of the region. Unifying the GTS portfolio, it was necessary to sell the Hungarian VSAT activity” – he added.

„This agreement is another milestone in the history of HDT, this addition to our existing business makes of HDT not only the biggest player on the satellite data transmission market in Hungary, but one of the decisive VSAT service providers in Europe. Following the transaction the number of terminal points operated by us has grown from the present 3.000 up to 4.500, with the additional 1.500 VSAT terminals brought to us by this transaction. This contributes to enabling us to serve our customers with the highest level of services at the most favorable prices” – emphasized Antonio Felizardo, General Director of HDT.

„This transaction of HDT is part of our telecom strategy which focuses on the enlargement of the Antenna Hungária Group telecom service portfolio provided to its corporate partners and increase of the market share of the Group services. We would continue to invest into not only the rollout of the digital terrestrial transmission networks but also into the expansion of our B2B telecom networks and services in the next few years” – explained Jean-Francois Fenech, Chief Executive Officer of Antenna Hungária
