Mesh

In case of space telecommunications systems, the mesh topology can be easily implemented. Using mesh topology, the terminal points are able to establish data connection with the center and also between each other, directly through the satellite.

The advantage of the mesh topology is, that two remote satellite terminal points can communicate with a single satellite hop. In this case, the satellite delay is the half of the delay occurring when the connection is established through the center with two satellite hops. A further advantage is, that using mesh topology, the system utilizes the satellite capacity between the two satellite terminal points more economically.
